Loverush UK Kinky Roland and Mark Schneider are no strangers to collaborations. Some basic research shows that they've worked with the likes of Marc Almond, Boy George and Andrea Britton; none of whom are strangers to dance music. Bryan Adams, though, is not an artist one would usually associate with the dance scene (leaving aside Run to You) so on paper this project was to be feared.Listened to in the raw, and to the untrained ear, Tonight in Babylon sounds like a pretty formulaic dance track; it glides along effortlessly on a solid if unspectacular beat and no doubt would have been gone down well in the clubs. But Bryan Adams vocal lifts the song out of the ordinary trance melee, giving it an edge and gravitas that it wouldnt have had. He really does add another dimension to a song that while perfectly danceable, lacked identity.
