Bhangra Kings RBD get ready to showcase new tour and album

International Urban group RDB has come a long way in becoming one of the leading South Asian producers, musicians, singers and entertainers in the world, with a huge following in the UK and internationally in India, Pakistan, Middle East, Canada and America. RDB, which was formed in 2000 by three Bradford-based Punjabi Sikh brothers Kuly, Manj and Surj, has radically pioneered the style of British Bhangra by remolding it into a raw urban sound, making their work stand out from the crowd. Their musical influences were shaped at a young age when they were introduced to music by their father, who taught them to sing religious songs and play the harmonium in their Gurdwara (Temple).RDB (Rhythm Dhol Bass) have brought audiences around the world a new genre of music. Bringing different musical styles and genres together and fusing these with South Asian influences is ultimately what comprises the familiar and popular 'RDB sound'. Putting their distinctive musical stamp on the international and UK music scenes, RDB have written, sung, played instruments and produced for countless hit songs, most notably for many A-List Bollywood films, including the cross-urban music track, Shera Di Kaum, which saw them collaborate with Grammy Award winning American artist Ludacris and Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. Other mainstream collaborations include tracks with Snoop Dogg, Elephant Man and Public Enemy.

Future Of The Left new album 'the plot against common sense' out soon

Future Of The Left are excited to announce that they will release their new record, 'the plot against common sense' on 11th June 2012 through Xtra Mile Recordings in the UK and Europe and on 12th June in North America through Xtra Mile/ILG..Constituting 49.8 minutes of singing, shouting, slinking, smashing and (at times) sobbing, the album is the best thing the band have put their name to in this or any other dimension, a fact which is not open to debate.Recently expanded to a four-piece, initially as a bet, the band originally conceived the record as a Broadway musical based on the recent British phone-hacking scandal but were forced to abandon this idea due to budgetary restrictions. This is not a joke. After writing hundreds of songs fifteen were recorded and placed into an order deliberately selected to exhibit the full dynamic range of the experience, a gift which will be lost to anybody who regularly utilitises the shuffle function on their mp3 player.Recent single 'sheena is a t-shirt salesman' is currently being blasted out across the airways played and championed by Radio 1's Daniel P Carter, Huw Stephens as well as XFM, 6Music and Kerrang! Radio. They are also heading out on an eagerly anticipated headline tour across the UK and Europe. Full dates are as follows:

Slash issues statement on the Jim Marshall death

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has issued a statement saluting the late-Jim Marshall, developer of the Marshall Amp.I consider myself very fortunate to have known the late Jim Marshall. He was such a fantastic individual. Not only did he create the loudest, most effective, brilliant-sounding Rock & Roll amplifier ever designed, but he was a caring, hardworking family man who remained true to his integrity to the very end. His work ethic was unequaled and his passion unrivaled. He took great care of me personally, as one of his loyal fans and Marshall Amp enthusiasts, ever since we first met in the early 90's.At that time, he did the unprecedented; he had the first-ever Artist Model Marshall series designed for me when my Marshall amps were destroyed in a Guns N Roses concert riot in St. Louis in 1991. We had been friends ever since.Jim cared for all his customers like they were his family. He would do whatever it took to make sure an artist was completely satisfied and he made sure his staff did likewise. It was very important to him that Marshall quality and customer care was paramount.Jim's passing marks the end of a very loud and colorful era. From Pete Townshend to Kerry King, Marshall Amplifiers have been behind every great Rock & Roll guitarist since the beginning. Marshall Amplification is one of the most enduring, iconic brands of contemporary music history. This industry will likely never see the likes of Jim again. But his legacy will live on forever.

Wolfsbane announce October UK tour

Wolfsbane were originally founded on the notion that kick-ass music and good drunken times are our best defence against life's shittiness and, 17 years after their split, the band's credo has not altered one jot. In fact, 'Wolfsbane Save The World' may be their finest album to date. Blistering performances from all concerned, and a revitalised Blaze Bayley in particular, ensure that this is a thrilling ride from start to finish. But it's the sheer, life affirming quality of these songs that seals the deal: from the serotonin of the opening 'Blue Sky', the priapic pummel of 'Teacher' and 'Starlight''s sublime muscular balladry through to the scything hooks and rambunctious spirit of 'Live Before I Die', the mad-eyed Meatloaf-punk of 'Illusion Of Love' and the sardonic grind'n'swagger of 'Did It For The Money', this is both exactly what the metal doctor ordered for these grey days and one of the finest and most joyous British rock albums in recent memory. Holy Shitting Christ, how we've missed them! 9/10.' (Dom Lawson, Metal Hammer, February 2012.The original line up of mighty British Heavy Metal band Wolfsbane, who reformed in 2011 to record their first studio album for 17 years, 'Wolfsbane Save The World', released in January 2012 to huge acclaim, have confirmed a nine date October UK tour. Wolfsbane Save The World', the group's effervescent, hard driving, melodious, hard riffing, joyous, totally uplifting fourth studio opus, is, to put it quite simply, the album the band always threatened to make, but never actually achieved. None of the producers on the band's 3 earlier albums was ever able to harness Wolfsbane's unrelenting live sound onto a studio album ' even including Rick Rubin himself ' but, 17 years on, the band themselves have done it. 'Wolfsbane Save The World' was recorded, engineered and produced by guitarist Jase Edwards at his studio 'Majestic Splendour', where he has produced a number of 'name' bands in the past.

Beastie Boys Adam Yauch and Mike D busy with side projects

Adam Yauch and Mike D from the Beastie Boys have been keeping busy in their time between albums.Yauch, who recently battled cancer, has acquired the rights for the LCD Soundsystem film Shut Up and Play the Hits for his company Oscilloscope Laboratories. He expects to release the film to theaters in North America this summer and in the rest of the world shortly thereafter. The film documents the group's final show at Madison Square Garden in 2011. Yauch said of the film "Perhaps having grown up in a band for most of my life ... a band that formed when I was 16 years old ... and having released our first record when I was still in high school, this film addresses so many questions. For instance, it can be pretty clear when a band starts, but perhaps less so when it ends, or how it should end. In that sense, it's brilliant of James [Murphy] to end it in such a definitive way."Mike Diamond (aka Mike D) is curating a visual arts show at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art running from April 20 to May 6.Diamond told Rolling Stone "As somebody who's been making music most of their life, I've always been interested and I've had the good fortune of meeting a fair number of visual artists and if you look at what my band has done, visuals have always been almost an equally important presentation for us as music was.

However, she has since matured and is now confident to trust her own instincts.'It's really easy for me to zone out, get in my own world. I need to be really stern about the point I'm trying to make, even if not verbal,' she told British magazine We Love Pop. 'You need to be fearless.Rihanna can soon be seen making her movie debut in Battleship. Her inner strength also proved vital on the set of the action film. You need to be unaffected in the movie industry,' she explained. 'In the music industry too, because there is so much scrutiny and negativity. You need thick skin. I grew a set of balls that are very big. Ha ha!'Rihanna plays Petty Officer Raikes, who is a weapons specialist, in Battleship. The movie also stars Liam Neeson and Alexander Skarsgard.

Simon Cowell: I brush off criticism

Simon Cowell has likened criticism to a 'mosquito bite'.The music mogul has launched some of the most famous talent contests in the world, among them American Idol, The X Factor and America's Got Talent. Some music fans have accused him of saturating the charts around the world with bland pop music, but it's not something he pays any attention too ' even when Sir Elton John moans at him.Sometimes you throw a pebble in the water ' occasionally a rock ' just to wind everybody up. When things get a little too comfortable I get bored. And yes, it amuses me,' Simon laughed. To me [criticism is] like a mosquito bite. We are the ones putting the money back in. With Elton, one minute he likes what we are doing, the next he doesn't. He just likes being controversial. If ever I meet him we joke about it.Simon is known for being a tough judge on the television programmes he is involved with. He always says if vocals aren't good enough and is brutally honest about how far a hopeful will really get in the industry. However, he insists many have the wrong idea about him.Simon famously arranged for British pop star Cheryl Cole to leave the UK judging panel of The X Factor and join the US version. Things didn't work out and she was replaced after a few weeks, causing outrage in her home country.I know when I've crossed the line a little bit. I thought there was going to be a big reaction. I wasn't prepared for what was coming next. I had to apologise for the way it was handled,' he said. 'I think [the relationship] is, [repaired] yeah ' we text occasionally. I mean, she is not on the phone every night any more but she broke the ice.'

Her beau is said to have proposed to the star a month ago at a Kabbalah centre in New York City, although the songstress is said to have kept him waiting for a definite answer.Madonna has a real fear of being on her own, plus she loves having a man in her life who is young and makes her feel young ' a source told British magazine Closer.Madonna ' who has been dating Brahim since 2010 ' hasn't ruled out marrying again. She previously hinted she could walk up the aisle in the future."It's not that I ever believed in perfect love. But if you are a romantic like me, you want to be swept off your feet by a knight in shining armour,' she admitted. 'Unfortunately, we are raised on those fairytales, and even if we are sophisticated, educated, intellectually evolved human beings we still, in the back of our mind, think that Mr. Right is going to come along and we are going to live happily ever after.'I could actually [see myself getting married again.] Yes.'Madonna has been divorced twice ' once from actor Sean Penn in 1989, while her marriage to director Guy Richie ended in 2008.

Jennifer Lopez feels 'really sad' about her split from estranged husband Marc Anthony. The gorgeous singer-and-actress and crooner Marc decided to call their marriage quits last summer.Although Jennifer has demonstrated considerable strength throughout the ordeal, the star admits that divorce is a rough process.Without going into detail. it's just really, really sad,' the star told the April issue of Vogue magazine. 'And look, we are still going through it, and it's emotional sometimes and difficult. We're still friends ' and we're parents. But it's going to take time. It's tough. But for the most part, I feel very proud of the way we're handling it. I really do. We are doing the best we can for [our two] kids.'Jennifer admits that she and Marc were always on two totally different paths. He's still [chain-smoking Newport cigarettes and drinking beer]! Look we are total opposites that way,' she explained. 'I'm used to that from growing up where I did. The men kind of drink beer and smoke cigarettes, and women kind of like. don't. But those things were not the issue so much. It became about something else.''What you saw today, on [The Ellen DeGeneres Show], it's very dignified and trying to be above all the emotions and pain that come along with a divorce and a family breaking apart,' she shared. Jon Anderson collaborates with Italian composer Marco Sabiu

Jon Anderson, former member of Yes, has collaborated with Italian composer and conductor Marco Sabiu on the new song Limitless Lives.Anderson said of the collaboration 'A good friend of mine, musician Alessandro de Rosa, put Marco Sabiu and I in touch with each other just last month. I was instantly connected to Marco's music; he sent me the music track and within moments I had sang the song and lyric and sent back to him. Marco loved my singing, so we talked about releasing the song on his new album. I love his Limitless theme for the song, as I wrote the lyric I realized we have so much to learn in this life, and we are truly Limitless human beings'The collaboration with Jon was born by chance, as most of the best things often do,' says Marco. 'What I found in Jon is the ideal musical partner: I've never met anybody who has understood my music and bettered it so quickly and effectively as Jon did. I was always very passionate about prog-rock, and being able to work with a legend like Jon is an honor, and truly exciting.' Along with being a highly respected arranger (Take That, Kylie Minogue, Pavorotti, Morricone), Marco is currently a TV star and crossover chart artist in his native Italy, as well as orchestrator and conductor for major Italian rock stars, including the arena act Ligabue. 'I think the theme of these songs is hope and that life is worth living regardless of its ups and downs.' That theme informs the album's title, 'Journey Through The Shadows', which Morbee explains, is a metaphor for the human experience. 'You're not given a guidebook or map at birth that guarantees the smoothest path,' he says. 'Ultimately, we all walk through with a candle that only allows us to see so far in front of ourselves. You never know what's around the corner, so it's an analogy for life.

Jessie J: Fans keep me alive

Jessie J admits that she would struggle immensely 'without her fans. The 23-year-old songstress feels a deep devotion to her admirers.Jessie, who recovered from an incapacitating foot surgery on ruptured tendons in her foot last summer, credits her success to the overwhelming support she receives.I calll [fans] heartbeats,' Jessie told People magazine. 'Heartbeats keep you alive, and I wouldn't be here as a musician without my fans.Gaga's amazing,' Jessie gushed. 'There are only so many people who can arrive at an awards ceremony in an egg [like she did at the 2011 Grammy Awards]. I couldn't pull that off. But for me, it's about the vocals.Jessie recently sung at Clive Davis', the late Whitney Houston's colleague and confidante, pre-Grammy party. She felt privileged to acknowledge one of her favourite musicians just hours after the I Will Always Love You singer passed away. It was the weirdest but most wonderful thing,' Jessie explained. 'It did feel very, very soon, but it was an honour to celebrate her life. She is one of my idols.Jessie has received numerous accolades in her career. Fellow singer Justin Timberlake once referred to her as the best singer in the world.

Enrique Iglesias: Love songs appeal to all

Enrique Iglesias chooses love as a recurring theme to sing about because everyone 'knows those feelings'.The Spanish singer-songwriter is famed for his romantic ballads and sexy love songs. Enrique chooses to sing about love because it's something everyone can relate to.It's the thing we all have in common. Ninety per cent of music tackles that subject because everyone - no matter how old, what religion, or what nationality - knows those feelings,' he told Parade magazine.I have a picture of my two dogs, Lucas and Grammy,' he admitted. 'Grammy passed away in 2010. That dog was like a human - he would get sad when I packed my bags. It was like losing one of my best friends.Enrique is admired by women across the globe for his brooding good looks and sultry singing voice. The 36-year-old hunk has revealed how fans have tried to get his attention at concerts. Despite his flirty on-stage nature, the star is in a relationship with Anna Kournikova. He introduced his long-time love as his wife at a concert in Russia last year.It was just meant to be sweet in the moment. I honestly didn't mean to confuse people. I thought it'd be easier for the audience to understand than if I said 'my girl,'' he explained.

Florence and the Machine get set to release 'Never Let Me Go'

Florence + the Machine are set to release 'Never Let Me Go' as the follow up to 'No Light, No Light' on April 2nd on Island Records. This emotionally charged huge song is suffused with an elegantly weary grandiloquence, gospel chords shine the way for a multi-tracked flock of Florence's to soar in free flight. The gospel thing comes from my obsession with hymns. I'm drawn to anything that has a hymnal quality, be it Spiritualized or dusty old albums by Georgian choirs. In the four months since the release of Ceremonials, love for Florence's second album continues apace, with the record a mainstay of the UK and US chart top 10s with worldwide sales now in excess of 1.5 million.Fresh from a non-stop globe-spanning jaunt of live shows (the US, Brazil and a first visit to Japan), and a performance at the BRIT Awards, last night in London Florence won not one but two NME Awards, capping an amazing few months. She went home with Best Solo Act and Best Track for 'Shake It Out'. Flo also graced the ceremony at Brixton Academy with a stripped down performance of 'Shake It Out' plus a duet with The Horrors on their track 'Still Life'.

Conor Maynard releases 'Cant Say No' video

Nineteen-year old Brighton singer Conor Maynard is on the cusp of stardom with his debut single already on national radio & TV playlists and shooting up the Shazam pre-order Top 20 chart with more than six weeks to go before its release. As Record Of The Day announced on Monday, 'Be prepared for this single to explode when the video premieres on March 2. This is a huge track to launch the most exciting pop/R&B artist the UK has produced since Tinie Tempah.'And that video, shot in East London and directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat (Lianne La Havas, Hervé and DJ Fresh ft Rita Ora) has just gone live on Vevo and already been added to the A-list at MTV UK and MTV Hits where it is the 'Most Wanted' track all next week. It's also just been announced as the brand new VIP Track with priority playlisting across Smash Hits, Kiss, 4Music and The Box TV channels. His fanatical fanbase is ever-growing with 182,000 Facebook fans, 65,000 Twitter followers and 52 million YouTube views as of today. And those numbers will climb even higher now that his first official music video has gone live. A lucky few of those fans who follow Conor's every move online will be seeing him in the flesh when he plays live next week at Islington Academy. His debut London show in February saw fans queuing in the street from 8.30am.
Loverush UK Kinky Roland and Mark Schneider are no strangers to collaborations. Some basic research shows that they've worked with the likes of Marc Almond, Boy George and Andrea Britton; none of whom are strangers to dance music. Bryan Adams, though, is not an artist one would usually associate with the dance scene (leaving aside Run to You) so on paper this project was to be feared.Listened to in the raw, and to the untrained ear, Tonight in Babylon sounds like a pretty formulaic dance track; it glides along effortlessly on a solid if unspectacular beat and no doubt would have been gone down well in the clubs. But Bryan Adams vocal lifts the song out of the ordinary trance melee, giving it an edge and gravitas that it wouldnt have had. He really does add another dimension to a song that while perfectly danceable, lacked identity.

School of Seven Bells 'Layafe' video released

School of Seven Bells released their third album 'Ghostory' on Monday, the band can now reveal the video for their single 'Layafe', shot in Texas with director David Lowery, who worked with the band in 2010 on their arresting video "I.L.U." as well as on their 2009 video for 'Half Asleep.' According to Alejandra (Alley), 'The setting for 'Lafaye' was shot in a beautiful old house in South Dallas. The house itself seems to be trapped in the time it was built, while completely thrown to the mercy of the elements. The spookiness and trapped, pacing energy of that setting was huge in expressing the words and music of the song."
