M.I.A. Releases New Single 'Bad Girls'

Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, aka M.I.A., is back on the radar with her first release since late 2010. Her new single 'Bad Girls' is a "return to form" of sorts, leaning on careening beats and daisychained hooks without the degraded fidelity of her last effort, '/\/\/\Y/\.' The Danja-produced track made its first appearance on her late 2010 mixtape 'Vicki Leekx' and debuted on Pitchfork earlier today.Though the track is currently making the rounds on internet channels, it will officially be available tomorrow, Jan. 31, with a video following on Friday, Feb. 3. The clip is directed by Romain Gavras, who previously helmed M.I.A.'s 10-minute violence marathon, 'Born Free,' as well as Justice's similarly violent 'Stress'.M.I.A. is currently working on her fourth album, which is projected for a summer release. She is also rumored to be making an appearance during the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday with Madonna to perform their collaborative single 'Give Me All Your Lovin',' which is also set for a Feb. 3 release.
