James Morrison Hammersmith Apollo

Picture the scene, with the stage decorated by six giant Christmas ball balls hanging from the rafters and unlike home they are perfectly lit. A large Persian rug and mic stand are centre front with the band positioned in a half moon behind the soon to appear, James Morrison. The music erupts and on he comes lapping up the roars and anticipation of the crowds. James Morrison is in the house. He begins the night with ‘It’s a beautiful life’, sung solidly and soulful. He comes to the front of stage to get up close with his audience and then retreats back to his rug. If he keeps this up I’ll title his show James and his magic carpet!Thank you he announces in response to his applause. This is ‘In my Dreams’ and its about losing a loved one… the next couple of songs whether you enjoy Morrisons style of singing and genre of music or not, are performed with an enthusiasm and style that is engaging, catchy and full of rhythm. The crowds especially the ladies get into the singalong chorus’s of ‘Gonna let you go’ as he lowers his voice and instruments to hear theirs. This was quickly followed by a duet with his backing singer on ‘It’s never too late to turn your love around
