Justin Townes Earle: Live Studio Soul

For his fifth album Justin Townes Earle decided to try something different. He stuck with his longtime collaborator Skyler Wilson as co-producer, but they went for a different sound. "I think that it's the job of the artist to be in transition and constantly learn more," Justin told Rolling Stone. "The new record is completely different than my last one, Harlem River Blues. This time I've gone in a Memphis-soul direction." JTE and his team checked into the Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, recording in an old church and recording everything live, with the whole band performing together, horns and all, "making everything as real is it could be," says Justin. "It was an artistic adventure...that will affect me artistically forever and I think it will affect everyone who worked on it artistically forever. The album is called Nothing Is Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now and will be released on Bloodshot on March 27. It's his fifth release in as many years for a label Justin praised in No Depression as "just full of great people who are prepared to take a chance with music industry outsiders and then build careers slowly rather than kick you off the roster because your second album only sold 70% more than the first one."
